How To Install Windows From Hard Drive

Many people don't want to purchase a DVD of Windows to install Windows on their computers. Reason can be anything but the answer is the only one. Its very simple even a new computer user can do this. So let's dive straight into it.

We will do this step by step:

(Follow Each Step Carefully, it will not result in a disaster but a small mistake can wipe all of your data!)

Before we get started I assume that you have an extra hard drive and the setup of windows you wanna install. The setup of windows can be in anything a hard drive, a DVD or in USB.

  • Step no:1

Format the Hard Drive which you wanna make bootable.

  • Step no: 2

Go to the directory of Windows Setup and copy boot folder, sources folder and bootmgr file from it.

  • Step no: 3

Paste the copied files in the empty Hard Drive.

  • Step no: 4

Press "Windows+R", a Window will appear type "cmd" in there and click on OK or just search for "cmd" in the "start menu" and open it as administrator. (I recommend this way)

  • Step no: 5

Type "diskpart" in the Command Prompt.

  • Step no: 6

Now type "list disk" in the Command Prompt and then type "select disk (x)". Here (x) is the number of the drive you wanna make bootable.

  • Step no: 7

Now type "list partition", There should be only one partition. Type "select partition 1", Now type "active"

  • Step no: 8

Now type "exit" and then type in the letter of the disk you wanna make bootable in my case its "e" So I will type "e" followed by a colon ":". After this type "boot\bootsect.exe /nt60 e:" Here "e" will be replaced by the letter of the bootable drive.

After doing this you should get a message like in the image. Now you just have to put the HDD in the computer and the setup will start working!
