You may have heard that the TRP of a show is very high or is very low, you must ask your self that "what is TRP?" well the full form of TRP is (Television Rating Point) which is calculated by the television operator.

It tells a TV Channel about how popular or demanding a show is. Now the main question is "How the calculate the TRP of a TV Show, How they know that we are watching that channel, How they know that a specific number of people are watching a specific TV Show".Well, it's not that complicated process.
In many houses, a set-top box is attached with the TV by the television operator and this set-top box is attached by the permission of the viewer who has no problem about this in return to this the television operator give the viewer a special discount of about 20 to 50 percent depending on the operator.
Now the device which was attached to the TV sends the information on which channel is the viewer is watching at which time. Then the Television operator sends this information to the Channel. In this way, the Channel know that which of their show is the most popular.
